It is now too late to take advantage
of the Steamer that leaves this week, and I
therefore propose to take my passage for England by the next.
I would also submit to His Excellency's

my request that I be

to
obtain the contract passage, a privilege already
granted to several members of the Civil Service,

The Honourable Mr. T. Meyer, require, has
been under the professional
care
of my late partner, Dr. Richard Dill, and myself since 1868. From the length of time he has been in this Climate, and the effects of different attacks of illness, his constitution has, for the last two
years
been
gradually undermined; and of late his glandular system has become so disorganized, as to demand his removal to a temperate climate, before the hot season sets in. I therefore deem it necessary to recommend that he obtain leave of absence for at least eighteen months, and return to Europe with a view to his permanent recovery
and restoration to
health.
